メンバーはピアノ、キーボード、ヴォーカルがタニア・マリア、ベースがボト、ドラムとパーカッションがエリオほか。
アルバムはタニア・マリアの初期の作品となる、ジャズ・サンバとブラジリアン・フュージョンの融合、音は魁（さきがけ）となり、原石の様な純粋無垢で、彼女の代名詞となる、ピアノの打鍵に合わせた高速スキャット、力強く、スケール感のある歌唱が、すでに完成している。

The band members include Tania Maria on piano, keyboards, and vocals; Boto on bass; and Helio on drums and percussion, among others.
This album marks Tania Maria’s early work, blending jazz samba with Brazilian fusion. Her sound is groundbreaking and as pure and unadulterated as a raw gemstone; the high-speed scat singing that syncs with her piano playing—a signature style of hers—and her powerful, expansive vocals are already fully formed.

タニア・マリアは２００９年８月ブルーノート東京でライブ公演を行った事が記憶に新しい。
それ以前のファンは、１９８３年の斑尾ニューポート・ジャズ・フェスティバルに初来日し更に知名度が上がった。
演奏はコンテンポラリー・ジャズ・サンバという感じ。
それにしても、この人の音は冬は似合わない、どうしたって夏、ギラギラの太陽の下で聴きたい。
以下、ブルー・ノート東京での公演のパンフレットから一部を転記。
【1948年5月9日、ブラジル北部のマラニョン州カン・ルイ生まれ、リオ・デ・ジャネイロ州のヴォルタ・レドンダ育ち。5歳からピアノを始めると、7歳から13歳までクラシックの教育を受け、父親のバンドでブラジル音楽の手ほどきを受けた。オスカー・ピーターソンを聴いて即興に目覚めたのは14歳の頃。音楽家への道を目指すも、豊かでない家庭を思い、法律の学位を取るため2年間学び、17歳で結婚して子をもうけるなど、20歳過ぎまで人前の演奏を謹んで過ごした。その一方、音楽家になる夢も抑えがたく、22歳前後からサンパウロでプロ活動を始め、アルバムもリリース。24歳でパリのライヴ・ハウスのディールを得ると単身でフランスに渡り、フルタイムのミュージシャン生活を始めた。1983年に初来日後、当店公演やジャズ祭などで大反響を呼び、様々な音楽ファンにブラジル音楽の逞しさを知らせた。「ファンキー・ジャズ・サンバの女王」たる天分を震わせてきた。ブルーノート東京に出演するのは’96年以来待望13年ぶり。「http://tania.maria.free.fr/」。】
このコメントを読んでいて、あくまで想像だが、たぶんフランス語が出来るのでペトルチアーニのアルバムに参加したと思う。

The CD was recorded in 1983 and released by Concord Records (catalog number CCD 4230); it contains eight tracks.
It is still fresh in our memory that Tania Maria performed a live concert at Blue Note Tokyo in August 2009.
Fans from that era first became familiar with him when he made his debut in Japan at the 1983 Madarao Newport Jazz Festival, which further boosted his popularity.
His music has a contemporary jazz-samba feel to it.
That said, his sound just doesn’t suit winter—no matter how you look at it, you want to listen to him in the summer, under the blazing sun.
